Top real estate developers come together for the 13th PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards Singapore 2023
Developers across the country convene to celebrate the best in their industry, hoping to win one of the many awards given out that night
On the 27th of October, last Friday, distinguished developers from different sectors of the real estate market in Singapore met at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia to celebrate the country’s built environment through the 13th PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards Singapore 2023.
The Singaporean real estate sector has consistently pushed its limits in the quest for excellence, establishing elevated benchmarks and advocating for sustainable development. The awards ceremony stands as proof of the industry’s notable successes, providing acknowledgment for remarkable achievements, promoting cooperation, and influencing the trajectory of real estate in Singapore.
The evening commenced at 7:15 PM as host Denise Keller extended her warm welcome. After her opening words, she shifted the attention to a video presentation that provided a sneak peek of the evening’s upcoming events. Following a concise explanation of the awards format and the upcoming program, the other initial speakers for the evening were introduced.
The evening’s lineup of speakers commenced with Mr. Jules Kay, who holds the position of General Manager at PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards & Events. Following him were Mr. Hari V. Krishnan, the CEO and Managing Director of PropertyGuru Group, and Ms. Kristin Thorsteins, who serves as the chairperson of the judges and leads partnership growth for APAC at IWG PLC. The final speaker of the event was Mr. Raymond Kong, a partner at HLB Singapore Foo Kon Tan LLP.
Ms. Keller extended her gratitude and provided a brief dinner reminder as she introduced the Independent Panel of Judges. The panel was under the leadership of Chairperson Kristin Thorsteins, who serves as the Head of Partnerships-Growth for APAC at IWG PLC. Comprising the remaining members of the panel were Annalisa Dass, Director of Digital Strategy at EY-Parthenon; Chua Shang Chai, a Partner at Dentons Rodyk & Davidson LLP; Henry Woon, Director of Atelier Ten; Kah Poh Tay, an Adjunct Associate Professor at NUS Department of Real Estate; Robert Greg Shand, an Architect at Greg Shand Architects; Professor Roy Ling, the CEO of FollowTrade; and Wenhui Lim, a Partner at SPARK Architects.
Before the award presentation began, we expressed our gratitude to a range of sponsors and event partners. Ms. Keller provided a brief explanation that a panel of judges had performed on-site evaluations of the nominated projects within a specific timeframe.
A total of 55 distinct awards were distributed across various categories, including design, development, and developer, with a few categorised as special awards, Publisher’s Choice, and the best of Singapore. The awards within the design category preceded the presentation of the 2023 Rising Star Award to Mr. Eugene Lim YJ, who serves as the Founder and CEO of The Assembly Place.
After a video presentation from Mitsubishi Electric Asia Pte Ltd, the ceremony continued with the development category. The category was capped off by the Best of Singapore awards, namely Best Housing Development which went to Pollen Collection by Bukit Sembawang Estates Limited and the Best Condo Development title awarded to Riviere by FRASERS PROPERTY QUAYSIDE PTE LTD. This was followed by the special recognition awards and one of the well-anticipated awards. The title of 2023 Singapore Real Estate Personality of the Year was presented to the Chief Executive Officer of MCC Singapore, Mr. Tan Zhiyong.
At this point of the night, the night’s sponsors were given a grateful acknowledgement before the awards under the developer category were presented. These led up to the coveted title of Best Developer in Singapore, which was presented by the panel of judges’ chairman Ms. Thorsteins to GuocoLand.
The 13th edition of the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards Singapore 2023 concluded with a final group photograph, where the evening’s winners and distinguished guests gathered on stage in celebration to express their appreciation to the recipients of the awards.
