As many localities across Vietnam see more restrictions being lifted, local hotels and resorts revive the nation’s tourism industry by offering discounts and promotion campaigns, reported Hanoi Times.

Pre-pandemic, the price of a three-day-two-night package at a 5-star resort was VND10 million (USD450), according to a local travel agent.

Now, the price has been halved, even reduced to two-thirds with accompanying services almost free.

“Currently, resort room rates in Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa Province), Phu Quoc Island (Kien Giang Province), Danang, and Hoi An ancient town (Quang Nam Province) are down by 50 to 60 percent,” she said.

Experts say that in the context of the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, many hotels and resorts offer discounts and promotions to attract tourists and offset some pandemic-induced impacts in the fiscal year of 2021.

General Director of HTS International Phan Dinh Thao said, “Travel companies look for tourists who have money, want to travel but with safety. In addition, the price reduction also targets the affluent customer segment, because the lower costs will stimulate their demand to enjoy luxury services at bargain prices.”

Vu Lam, country director at Agoda Vietnam, noted that the country’s vaccination rollout has been going well, with 75 percent of the population aged 18 and over in Ho Chi Minh City and 47 percent of those in Hanoi fully vaccinated.

“With the immunization in full speed, it’s a safe time for travel,” he said.
