The winners of the 14th PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards

The highly-anticipated 14th PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards Grand Final celebrated the achievements of both established and emerging developers from 14 real estate markets and beyond on Friday, 22 November, at The Athenee Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, in Bangkok, Thailand.

Taking home “Best Developer in Asia,” the most coveted trophy of the night, was Singaporean property giant UOL Group Limited, who bested nine companies from around the region.

“We’re very glad for each and every participant because each one of us took home not just an award, each one of us took home an idea of how the industry has been evolving over the years,” said Liam Wee Sin, group chief executive of UOL Group Limited, as he accepted the highest accolade of the night.

Out of the 30 categories and 150 nominees, Singapore stood out across the region as their premier developers claimed seven wins, followed by Indonesia and Philippines who both garnered four regional awards.

Chen Lian Pang, recipient of the PropertyGuru Icon Award

PropertyGuru Group chief business officer Jeremy Williams presented the Icon Award to Chen Lian Pang for his inspiring work in the industry and consistent involvement in an array of CSR activities. As the second recipient of the title in the Awards show’s 14-year history, he has this to say: “This is not my own achievement of leadership but also the efforts of those who have supported me over my career in real estate, especially management, colleagues and staff of CapitaLand, who have shared the same vision as I have.”

PK and Issa, the emcees for the night

PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards, the longest-running and most prestigious industry recognition in the region, hosted a momentous night that provided high-quality entertainment and exciting prizes from Kohler.

Renowned for their impressive work in the entertainment industry and for being crowd favourites during the previous PropertyGuru galas, Issa Litton, who also hosted the 13th Asia Property Awards Grand Final and the 7th Philippines Property Awards, as well as “PK” Piyawat Kempetch, who hosted the 14th Thailand Property Awards, returned as the masters of ceremonies.

As the programme officially kicked off, over 500 guests feasted on a delectable five-course dinner of rock lobster timbale, warm seabass carpaccio, double-boiled chicken consomme, herb-crusted Australian beef tenderloin, and a choice between a light lemon tart or lychee and mint as desserts — which were all a feast for the senses.

Vit with Won Chon performers

R&B Thai singer Pacharapon “Vit” Jantieng and Won Chon Productions, the distinguished dance group who opened the Miss Universe 2018 ceremony, entertained the guests with a traditional-contemporary performance of the song “Higher Love” as the night progressed.

Kohler, the main sponsor of the event, presented an array of exciting lucky draw prizes throughout the night, such as Manchester United jerseys, hand showers, and a shower column and faucet.

By the end of the awarding ceremony, the awardees set up on stage of the hotel’s Crystal Ballroom to take the annual group photo. As soon as the clock struck midnight and the confetti bursted at the seams, cheers resounded from the winners, signalling yet another successful year for the region’s real estate sector.

The 14th PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards Grand Final is the concluding programme of the week-long series of events hosted by PropertyGuru, including the Road to Gold, two-day Asia Real Estate Summit, Asia Property Awards (Sri Lanka), Asia Property Awards (Australia), Asia Property Awards (Mongolia), and Asia Property Awards (Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau).
